“The room’s atmosphere is definitely part of the appeal, as bottles of spirits are displayed on repurposed wooden crate shelves and a large, reclaimed wood bar top runs the length of the room, giving it a cozy, cabin-like feel. But whereas plenty of country bars like this would stick to the beer-and-a-shot motif, serving cheap whiskey and cold Miller Lite, [Sam Seidenberg, Cuyama Buckhorn’s lead bartender,] has built out the kind of menu that you’d be more likely to find in a fine dining restaurant or a Brooklyn speakeasy.”

Bringing the bucks home.
During the property’s renovations, we found an old photograph of buck heads lining the bar’s walls. Over the years, they ended up scattered around the property, waiting to return to their rightful home. Now, the buck heads are one of the most iconic parts of Cuyama Buckhorn, overseeing the countless good nights in The Bar.
